BUG: When using the Reload All Historical Data Command

An issue exists with the "Reload All Historical Data" command.

My latest occurence presents as follows:

With NT7B4 with a live IB TWS connection, strategy and chart, my internet connection fell over. The strategy had been loaded onto the Strategies tab not onto the chart. When discovered several hours later, after rebooting the modem, the IB and NT connection reset to green ie working. This is the important part: new bars on the chart started to rebuild but the lost bars when the internet was down were not recovered. Changing bar time from 5 minutes to one minute did no result in missing bar replenishment. This could be a major problem for many strategies.

I then deployed the "Reload All Historical Data" command but it failed to execute properly and result in missing bar replenishment. Usually in NT7B4 when the command succeeds, bars in the chart dissappear, and text appears indicating that data is being reloaded, and then bars are rebuilt.

However when this command does not execute properly chart bars do not disappear, and the text message does not appear on the chart, or chart bars disappear and the text message appears only momentarily before original chart bars are rebuilt once again without missing bars. Re-executing the command does not help. When I shut down and restart NT, and repair the database I can get the the command to execute successfully.

It is possible that this highlights two issues with NT7B4. Can you replicate?

Aussie2, I will attempt to reproduce your scenario here - which symbol and session template were you using?

Also: were you working with IB's TWS 898.4?

      Thanks

        Reload Historical

        Hello Bertrand,

I was using 6A-12 (Aussie dollar of course!!!) and the 24/7 template, and (I know I'll be in trouble for this) TWS build 899.8

        Regards

Thanks Aussie2 - so far did not see it happening on my end here, but will dig further into

          - is this a IB live or demo account used?

          - can you please try on the supported TWS 898.4 and see if it makes a difference?

          Thanks

I am using the IB TWS live account. I will try the earlier TWS build.

            Thanks.

Thanks, please let us know - I was able to simulate the connection loss and reconnection - it would be expected this would not trigger a historical reload by itself, same for 6.5.

However, of course as you do a manual reload then, it should be fullfilled. Since you indicated you had to repair the DB before, it may have been a database issue you were dealing with.

              Thanks for your support

                Bertrand

Have rolled back to previous IB TWS.

Also have adjusted the Session Manager 24/7 time zone parameters so based on local Sydney time which is the time on my computer clock, rather than US CT as it was previously. Is this how it should be?

Will do more testing and post outcome in several days.

You can use whatever times you want, just know that it is important to select the timezone of those times that you set out because it will do whatever conversion is necessary to match those times with the time it would be in your local time zone to achieve those session definitions.
