I have three suggestions that I believe would improve the NT7 Strategy Analyzer user experience. These suggestions would make NinjaTrader a more powerful backtesting engine, especially for traders and institutions who trade 1000's of contracts:
#1. Allow the user to select more than 1 Instrument List so when they right click and choose "Backtest...", all the contracts in all selected Instrument Lists will be backtested.
#2. Similar to #1... When the user expands an Instrument List, they can't select more than one contract in the list to backtest. Some of my users would like to quickly multi-select 10 or 20 contracts in a very large instrument list for a quick backtest. Currently, the only options are 1) test entire Instrument List or 2) test a single contract only.
#3. It would be awesome if the Instrument Lists in the strategy analyzer were in a hierarchical TreeView, instead of structure with only two levels of hierarchy.
For instance, I would like to have top level instrument lists for years, like "2008", "2007", etc., and inside of them have Instrument Lists of exchanges, like "CBT", "NYMEX", etc., and inside of those have Instrument Lists of Product Types, like "Indices", "Interest Rates", etc., and inside of those have Instrument Lists of product names, like "mS&P", ""mNasDaq", etc., and inside of those have the actual contracts, like "ES 06-08, "ES 09-08", etc.:
2008
--> CME
-----> Indices
---------> mS&P
--------------> ES 06-08
--------------> ES 09-08
... For all years of our data, all exchanges we trade, and all product types, products, and cotnracts we trade.
Thanks a lot for considering these ideas, and keep up the great work!
