    Suggestion: defaults in Strategy Analyzer

    When using Strategy Analyzer:

In order to test and retest a strategy as you are developing it, many keystrokes are required to enter type of chart (Range, Minute), value, start date and end date every time you need to run the backtest again (even just to re-run and be sure that your logic is working correctly).

Q: Am I correct that you need to open up a new Strategy Analyzer each time?

Suggestion: Regardless of answer to above question, IMO it would be a great improvement to (a) allow most recent choices to persist unless changed, or (b) allow user to set defaults in Strategy Analyzer.

Not sure I follow. Why wold you need to open an strategy analyzer for each backtest, just leave it open.

Most recent settings ARE maintained, so you could use them on next backtest.

I believe that every time you recompile, to backtest you have to re fill in the from, to, session template and one or two other fields. It's actually slower than 6.5 although it was supposed to be quicker. I think it's just a case of all the defaults being reset on every compile.

[it would be even quicker to use if you could tab through the settings window properly, and use up/down arrows etc, but that was a 6.5 problem too - was just hoping you'd have addressed it]

      regards

        Dave,

Not sure what you mean. Recompiling does not change any of your Strategy Analyzer parameters. All the parameters should be the same when you don't close the Strategy Analyzer. Furthermore you can right click in the panel and select Set to Default.

What I mean is, if you bring up a strat analyzer window, click b for backtest, pin the window (that's not necessary) change time frame from/to, and session template, for example, then recompile the strategy selected, thode fields change - from changes to 01.01.2009, and session template changes to <use instrument settings>

Hi, does this make sense? Can you reproduce it? It makes it really hard to test script development in NT7

            thanks

Dave, I was able to reproduce this with the steps you've listed. I'll send a note to the developers.
