I assume you are on Beta 14?

I tested this myself and it is working as expected so either I have done something different than you that is causing it not to work or you have an incorrect setting.

As a first step, please create a chart with only a weekly series on it, apply the 200 EMA, does it plot the correct value?

If yes, add a Daily series onto this same chart, now edit the EMA and change Panel to the same Panel # as the daily series. Plotting the correct value?

      Plotting discrepancy

Yes Im on n7 Beta 14.

Created a new SP500 Weekly chart with a 200EMA, and the 200EMA is still below the price data

          Plotting discrepancy

Created chart attached. Noticed my chart title has only 11/2009 - 15/2010.

I see this as expected. You have 66 bars on your chart based on the date range and have applied 200 period EMA to this data set. Since there are only 66 data points, the EMA indicator will not have the 200 needed to give you an accurate value. Please load 200+ bars and let me know if the issue persists.

              Plotting discrepancy

The data range stated on the title of the SP500 weekly in nt7b14 is different than in nt6.5 yet both have the same data range settings. Refer attached (the second chart is from nt7).
What can I do to correct this to get the title the same as nt6.5 and the EMA plotting correctly.

                MrHope,

NT7 has different title formatting. Unfortunately there is no way to go back to 6.5 formatting.

For the EMA, have you tried Ray's earlier suggestion yet? Note that just because you request 1552 days back it does not seem like you actually have that much data available to you so you will only get a chart up with as much data is available instead of 1552 days worth of data.

                  plotting discrepancy

Yes tried setting bars to 200 + and nothing changed. The 200 EMA is still below the price data.

So it works with nt6.5 but doesn't work with nt7b14.

                    MrHope,

I have attached an image of a chart with 300 bars loaded, applied a 200 EMA and the value is correct. If you feel the EMA value is incorrect, let me know.

                      plotting discrepancy

You're lucky you have more data available. I'm aware of the problem I have. With the data I presently have stored on the computer, with nt7 this isn't sufficient to produce the 200EMA that I desire.

Anyway I'll continue to use nt6.5 until I have sufficient data to produce the 200EMA with nt7. Thanks for clearing this up.

You could export data from 6.5 and import into 7.0.

After exporting data from nt6.5 and importing into nt7b14 the 200EMA on a SP500 weekly chart plotted correctly. Thanks

Hi, seems that here is the correct place to post my question.

When I use a moving average indicator and displace it by a negative number, the indicator gets truncated X number of bars ( X being the negative displaced value). there are charting software that are able to plot an "effective" line (turquoise color line on the pic attached) for the remaining bars on the graph. (seems they are just concatenating the effective SMA with a reduce length for the last bars). is this possible to do on NT8? if so how?. Thank you for your support.
