When you have the backtester open and change your strategy code by specifically adding (properties) to it the backtester will not pick it up the new properties (which is understandable)... you then click on Backtest again and still does not pick it up... you actually have to close the backtester or switch to a different strategy and then switch back to the original... hope it make sense.
