Long Connection Time to Zen Fire

    Hello

When I double-click on the NT7 icon the NT7 Startup Screen appears pretty quickly but then it disappears again and nothing happens for over a minute. Then I hear the "Connected" sound file (I chose auto-connect on startup) but my screen is still blank. It takes 20 more seconds or so until I finally see the Ninja Control Center and charts.

The overall speed of NT 7 is certainly greatly improved over 6.5, but the startup process is actually slower than in 6.5.

    Thanks

Hi laocoon, please ensure you're on 7.0.0.3 via Help > About.

Next, do you migrated over your database / custom files from the 6.5 installation?

Is the loading process much faster for you without the auto connect to ZenFire enabled?

Did you try other feeds with the auto connect option as well?

    Thanks

      Hi Bertrand,

      1. I'm on 7.0.0.3
      2. Yes, I migrated my custom files from the 6.5 installation
      3. Yes, the loading process is faster without the auto connect to ZenFire enabled
      4. I can't try other feeds, as I only have access to Zen Fire.

The connection time to Zen Fire is still very long though (over 30 seconds).

      Thanks

As you migrated over, please delete the ZenFire connection entry and retry with a fresh NinjaTrader.sdf file under MyDocuments\NinjaTrader 7\db

After restart, resetup the Zen connection and recheck the Auto connect loading time.

Can this code squence be changed?

I am not commenting on the speed of the connection process just on the way the splash screen disappears and the control center does not appear immediately.

Is there a way to change the sequence in which this code fires?
It seems that for now the code to connect on startup begins to execute while the splash screen is still displayed. Apparently the control center display code (charts, analyzer, DOM display also) is forced to wait until the connection process completes or fails.
This can leave you wondering for a long time why Ninja does not seem to be doing anything. It feels like it has locked up since there is no visual indicator of progress.
Since there is no control center displayed during this delay there is no way to terminate Ninja short of using the task manager.

Just a cosmetic issue I suppose.

Loving the new streamlined NT7 combined with a new streamlined Windows 7. My laptop is flying along like never before. Thanks guys.

This can't be changed at this time however, your feedback is noted.

              Thanks Ray.

This is a minor thing since I can easily turn off the "connect on startup" option.
This is only annoying me at this moment because I am traveling and have access to a pretty poor Internet connection.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and your entire team.
Thanks for all the effort on this project.
