I'm using NT7b3 and it seems that you can save a custom template under a new name, and apply that template. But you can't save a custom template as the "default" template, and the "default" template is the one that gets applied first.

At least that's what seems like the problem, as I understand it.

Was on Beta 2 that last video...this one below is Beta 3...I understand you can save some new settings to a custom template...but how do you revise the standard default settings provided by Ninja as your new preferred default settings and save so that one can access with the hot key for that tool ??

I wish we can time shift the charts as those traders in Australia or London will have issues laying over the different futures data.

Nice to read the positive reactions on NT 7, I'm looking forward to its release.

I was wondering about the (various?) ways to download historical data with NT7, and I was hoping you guys could shed some light on this topic.

The problem for me with NT 6.5.xx, is that, besides my workspace with the instruments I trade, I have created another workspace which contains all the symbols I collect historical data from (for backtesting and system development purposes). Because the Market Analyzer in NT 6.5 only saves Market Replay data for each instrument, I have a chart for every symbol that I collect historical data from (around 60 symbols). Off course this slows down NinjaTrader tremendously, and that's why I update these charts once a week through this special workspace.

However, I'm not quite satisfied with this "solution", and I was hoping that NT7 brings improvements in this area. If not, what's the most efficient way to collect historical data from a lot of symbols?

In NT7, you have what is called the Historical Data Manager. You can select whole lists of instruments and use a download button to go ahead and download data for all the selected instruments.
