    Session Break Lines

It appears the session break lines are being drawn on the prior bar. IB is the data feed.

This is correct and expected. We changed this from the 1st bar of the session. In multi-series charts they are located at the actual time. I don't recall the reasoning for the change except that it had to be done.

You did not miss anything, likely was not mentioned anywhere.

On the "Chart Properties" dialog box there is still a property for "Plot session break lines" and it appears that it does not do anything. Maybe this is left over from 6.5 since this property is now associated with a data series.

Also, if you have two data series on a chart both in seperate panels, should you be able to plot the session break lines independently for each panel? Right now it appears as if you cannot.

Thanks for catching that extra redundant property...Will remove since it is no longer needed.

We opted to plot the session break line across all panels and you can not individually control them by panel.

If you cannot plot them independently its seems counter intuitive to associate the property with the data series and not the chart.

If you have multiple data series on the chart you need to set the property to false on all for the line to disappear.

If you have multiple data series on the chart how does it determine what color, dashstyle and width to use (looks like the first data series that is true).

              That seems confusing.

There are properties to configure the session break line visual appearance per Data Series.

They don't seem to work per data series.

So we are on the same page, I have MSFT and ES, two different session end times, I configured one to be yellow the other red.

Try two instruments that have the same session template. Where the lines would be drawn at the same location on the chart. I think that might be the issue that I am seeing. The second line draws over the first line I suspect. Never thought of that being the case.

Correct, one will be drawn first thus you will not see the other one if it is the same width line.

As soon as I saw your chart with different session templates all became clear and I see why you guys did it that way. I typically only trade CME stuff so it never occurred to me. Thanks.

I guess it never occured to me that you were thinking from a single market perspective so...touche'! Will be sure to clarify my responses on subsequent questions of this nature.

Two session break lines for one instrument?

My default chart template adds some colours and the session template 24/7.

Now when I open a new chart for ES (1 data series only) and select my default chart template (calling for 24/7 session template), the chart will display two session break lines

                              - session break line for active session template 24/7 (= day break line for timezone of instrument)
                              - session break line for session template as per instrument settings

                              Is this expected behaviour?
