How does NT handle IB data

I was wondering how NT handles the historical data from Interactive Brokers?

Why I would like to know this? Because when I change a chart from 1 minute to 2 minutes I have the idea that NT is going to download the new data again from the IB servers, because it takes very long and when I change to often I get the error from IB that for the next 5 min I am not able to download any historical data.

While I would say that all data once downloaded from IB will be granted as correct data and will be stored as 1 minute data in the NT database. So that when another chart has to be created only the missing data has to be downloaded and the rest is taken from the database. I would think that 2 minute data can be created with ease from 1 minute data. But I can be incorrect, I have no idea with what issues you have to deal with.

Please some insight why the loading takes so much time?

NT will always load the current days data from any connected provider and replace what has already been collected with this freshly downloaded data. We can't just download what's missing since there is not always a way to know what is missing.
