Charts - Two Issues - Data not streaming, and Chart trader not working

I loaded a chart with the ES Contract 12-09 from Zenfire, added RSI(2) and SMA(200) to the chart.

I am connected to Zen-Fire (green connection in bottom of screen, and I can retried/reload data). The time and series window is also populating.

The data series in the chart (candle chart does not change/update) with the incoming T&S data. In the attached screen shot, I went to the main order page and purchased 1 contract at market in the sim account - this was at 1095, notice that the chart does even get close to that number, yet the T&S window clearly shows the latest price.

The second issue is that I enabled the chart trader on this chart. When I click on "buy market", I get the error shown above.

There are no errors in the log relating to this at all.

    Platform is NT 7.002, Windows 7 64bit.

    dnoff,
Is your chart showing the correct day? Mine doesn't have data past 10/16/09 and I'm getting the same issue on both computers using 2 different ZF feeds. The data in the DOM seems fine though.

I have the same issue using the ZenFire feed with no data past 10/16/2009. The end date is set to 10/19. I tried 10/20 to see what would happen and the program crashed.

OK, seems like the problem was the "session template" under data series. It was set to "use instrument settings" switching to "default 24/7" loaded all the data up til present and made the chart trader start working again.

Edit: Yes Palinuro, I tried it going to 10/20/09 and it crashed also.

          I will try that also.

The strange thing is that I thought the default was 24/7??

This worked for also - the session template for the futures contracts is defaulted to 8:00 - 3:15 CST.

This also fixed the chart trader issue. It seems that this does not work outside of the session hours - although you can still trade via the "Order" screen/section

              .
Yes, that works. But if you only want RTH data it should load that day's data as well, even if it is after hours.

Data on a chart will only load up for the bars that are in-session. If you want to see all bars, you would use Default 24/7.

For the crash you guys are having when switching to 10/20, can you provide the trace and log files? Is it reproducible? What are the exact steps I can try to reproduce? Thanks.

                  Josh,
I was using the default "session template" for TF, and in the chart I was using <Use Instrument Settings>. It was the evening of the 19th around 9:00 pm EST when I was trying it. The latest data that would load in the chart was 10/16, even when the "End Date" was set to the 19th. When I switched to the 20th to see if it was because it was considered the next day's session was when it crashed.

I just tried it again on a different computer, and it didn't seem to do it. I will try to reproduce it this evening and let you know the results. I'll email you the trace file from last night.

                    VT,

Thank you. Please mention this thread in the email too. Also, what is the default session defined to for your instrument in the Instrument Manager?

                      Josh,

It was the default one for TF that shipped with NT7, which I think was "CME US Index Futures RTH". At least that is the one the other computer where I hadn't changed it, is set with.

The email is sent attn Josh and references this thread in the body.

                          Josh,
I was able to reproduce the crash again, twice.
                          Here's what I did:
I reset the TF Session Template in the instrument editor back to CME US Futures Index RTH.
I opened a chart of 1 min TF with Session Template set for <Use instrument settings>.
Clicked ok and the data loaded up to 10/19/09 even while the "End date" was set to 10/20/09. BTW reload hitorical data was grayed out in the right click menu.
Since the "End date" was already set for 10/20, I tried to change to 10/21.
It went to loading data and then crashed.
I switched ES to use the same template with the same result.

Obviously there is some issue with the template since it will not even load the data from today, but I have not played around with it yet. Works fine using 24/7 or 24/5 though.

                          VT

EDIT: OK, I realized that after the first crash I had forgotten to log back into Zen-Fire, but even after logging back in the results were the same, with the exception that the reload historical data option was not grayed out. However it didn't change the results, it still wouldn't load today's data.

                            Josh,
                            One more thing I noticed.
I can use 24/7 or 24/5 in instrument manager and <use instrument settings> in the chart. Or I can use 24/7 or 24/5 in the chart and leave instrument manager with CME US Index Futures RTH. Either way works fine.

Seems like it's in the template to me.
