MR vs workspaces

in 6.5 there was a bug wherein switching from live feed to MT would cause a crash unless you first saved the workspace

7 has a similar problem...i.e. you can not switch...plus you can not have a chart open prior to connecting to MR

the only procedure I have found to work so far is:

1. have a live workspace and a replay workspace
2. disconnect from live
3. you must have both workspaces open in order to close the live workspace (like 6.5 wherein you can not close default ws)
4. make sure replay workspace does not have any charts running
5. connect to MR....set date range
6. open chart w ind set and run...works fine

every other procedure, ie. that has a chart open before connecting to MT, causes a crash or at the very least removes the ind set from the chart

further problem:

if I run from start MR range, ind plots normally...i.e re bar width, wicks, etc plus my cs plots (drawtext)

if I then back it up, refresh ind, and replay....the bar body does not plot, the wicks are narrow....my cs plots are fine however there is no bar to compare to plots

Can you please attach some trace/log files from your crashes?

For your second issue, which indicator are you using? Please try with a standard NT indicator and see if you experience the same. Thank you.

had to re-install NT7 this morning

same issue...

I had been using MR on the weekend and closed NT with my replay workspace active

I connected to Zen-Fire and my custom ind would not run

connected to MR and it ran fine

forgot to test with NT ind

anyway, I have had this same problem ever since workspaces were introduced

I guess I am unable to reproduce. If you have time, I would like to remote login to your machine and take a look at exactly the steps you are using.

the problem appears to be NT7 being confused by charts in a workspace that do not correspond to the live date if on live feed or the replay date if on replay feed

in short, you can not connect to 10/12/2009 live feed if the chart/workspace is from replaying 10/07/2009....

work around is per first post in this thread

Josh solved this problem

solution is to make sure the chart your are working with has sufficient days loaded to span the replay date,,,then it will populate properly

still might need to refresh ind and maybe reload data
