It seems that the pull-down tab for quotes must be used for each trading symbol to cause it to be available for trading (using TS8.3 to NT to MBT).

Not sure I follow. If you mean that you need to be subscribed to a feed for the instrument you wanted to trade on the sim account, then yes: there need to be market data coming in.

You can achieve that by throwing all instruments in question on a market analyzer, so data for these instruments would keep streaming in.

Note: this is how the sim account work. Would not be an issue on live trading.

Thanks for the tips No doubt the MA will make all symbols active for the sim trading.
