    Migrating from 6 to 6.5

I ve been running 6 for several weeks. I have the only workspace in 6 set up with 8 charts, all with custom indicators and custom settings. Lots of time and work mousing and clicking. I finally decided to install 6.5 tonight. During this I decided to uninstall E Signal 10 (Ive used their stuff for years) which was a big mistake. Reinstalled it. Everything running fine after cleaning the registry &c. Anyway..... When I first started 6.5 it gave me the option of importing things from 6. Fatuous fool that I was for a short instance of time was actually excited thinking I would open 6.5, tell it to open a workspace and there in the list would be "Imported workspace"..... I live for those moments of hope sort of like mental extasy and when one actually comes true to pass I generally pass out cold totally overwhelmed.......It did not import any of the chart settings. Discovered why here on the forum.....

All fine well and good. My question is where are the settings for all the charts, indicators &c stored under 6 because 1) I would like to make a back up of this information because of lots of mousing and clicking and time...... and 2) Can these settings be imported to 6.5?? Say create a custom workspace in 6.5 and simply drag and drop or copy the config files from 6 to 6.5?? I seem to recall somewhere seeing on I think version 6 where the chart settings for each chart in the workspace are stored. Whether the stuff is importable or not, I still would like to make a copy of it.

I ve had several problems with Ninja 6 mostly unfamiliarity..... and I was an E Signal user for many years..... all of that having been siad I dont much mind the time needed to familiarize with a new program but when you trade every day and treat the market as a job then spend adidtional hours administering your systems plus things like dinking with programs it gets to be a whole LOT of machine time...and after all our raison d etre so to speak is trading rather than grinding around being our own IT department (I build my own machines, run Linux dual boot on all of them so I should shut up with that I know)..... so hopefully there might be some way tro copy chart settings without having to build everything from scratch, mousing and clicking and so on and so forth.....

In spite of the *****ing here I do like Ninja a whole lot.... the trade execution is simply above and beyond anything else I have ever used..... plus E signal software is somewhat ancient in its being single threaded and inability to fully take advantage of multi processor environments

Mousing and clicking mousing and clicking mousing and clicking....... anyone ELSE here wish that when you were through trading for the day you simply could walk away from the machine without having to screw with it????? Professional traders with an IT department are lucky sometimes I think.....

    carrmac,

We strongly do not recommend just copying and pasting NT6 workspace file to NT6.5. There may be incompatibility issues.

That being said the files are located in your My Documents\NinjaTrader 6 folder. http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...ataBackup.html

Josh Understand how there might be..... do you advise to build the workspace from scratch in 6.5 or is there a way to import part or all of the 6 settings??? BTW thanks very much for the info and interest Carr

I suggest you build it from scratch. That way you won't have any issues in the future.
