6.5.0.9 updating bugs in volume bar charts

    1. When connecting to my broker (IB), charts with minute bars now, finally, automatically go to the current day and start updating. Thank you.

However, charts with volume bars must still be manually adjusted to the current day before they start updating. These charts should behave the same way as the minute bar charts

    2. When using replay, minute bar charts update properly.

However, existing volume bar charts do not update at all, and the option to change the date is not available.

Moreover, newly created volume bar charts do update properly during replay.

Thank you for fixing these bugs.

    Hi goWms !

    1) Strange, they have the same logic on updating as minute bars.

    A few questions about that:
"...charts with volume bars must still be manually..."

Do you mean you open the Format Data Series dialog, and the to date is on the wrong date ?

"...and the option to change the date is not available...."

Don't quite understand. You mean in the context menu, the option to select Format Data Series dialog is disabled, or not there ?

    Then:
    - do you shut down your PC at end of the day, or you leave running. Or some kind of standby ?
    - if you leave it running, do you leave NT open, or open it up every day ?
    - if you leave it open, do you stay connected to IB ?
    - is this *always* on every volume chart, or are there differences, e.g. only special instruments... ?
    - when you open the format data series dialog, what's the 'to'-date ?
    - what's the timestamp of the last volume bar ?

    Thanks,
    Christian

      Hi Christian,
Thanks for the prompt reply. After I posted, I decided to remake my workspace with all new volume bar charts. This morning, after connecting to my broker, all the charts are updating properly.

I'll leave the previous behavior as an unsolved mystery for now.
      Thanks again!

        Hi goWms !

        > I'll leave the previous behavior as an unsolved mystery for now.

Me not. If there should be a problem in, I would be glad to kick it out !

In this sense, it would be great if you could take the 2 minutes of your time to answer the questions below. Maybe it could prevent the same problems for you or someone else in the future.

        Thanks a lot,
        Christian

          Hi Christian,
          NEW INFORMATION
The problem has recurred. It seems to start when I 1) connect to replay, 2)2) disconnect from replay, 3) connect to replay again. After this sequence, the chart does not update for replay, and the chart must be manually set to the correct day the next time I connect to my broker. Each time the problem occurs, it does not affect any new charts created at that time.

ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS FROM BEFORE
Q: Do you mean you open the Format Data Series dialog, and the to date is on the wrong date ?
A: Yes. During replay when the problem is present, the Last Date field is on the wrong date, namely the date that was there before the replay.
However, when the volume bar chart fails to update after connecting to my broker, I can and do successfully change the date to the current date.

Q:"...and the option to change the date is not available...."
Don't quite understand. You mean in the context menu, the option to select Format Data Series dialog is disabled, or not there ?
A: The dialog will open during replay, but the Last Date field is greyed out

Q:- do you shut down your PC at end of the day, or you leave running. Or some kind of standby ?
          - if you leave it running, do you leave NT open, or open it up every day ?
          - if you leave it open, do you stay connected to IB ?
A: I shut down at the end of the day and reboot every morning.

Q:- is this *always* on every volume chart, or are there differences, e.g. only special instruments... ?
A: The problem is present on volume charts with various amounts of volume per bar. I have tried it only for ER2.

Q:- when you open the format data series dialog, what's the 'to'-date ?
          - what's the timestamp of the last volume bar ?
A: Both items of information are the same as what the chart says the previous time I used it. Some times it is the date and last bar from the previous day. If I have used replay, I believe that the chart shows the date and last bar from the replay, but I'll have to check the last point.

          I hope this helps,
          Gordon
