    Chart Trader

    Hi,

In Sim moded Chart Trader works fine, and displays all orders as placed.

When used for live trading, neither the entry/average postion line or the small information box at the end of the line is shown on the chart although stop and profit orders are.

This is the first time I have used the Beta (.08) version live so I dont know if this issue existed previously. I checked obvious things such as line colors etc.

Any suggestions or further checking I can do to verify if this is a setup problem at my end or a bug within the application?

    Thanks

Likely issue is that the average price of your position is not in the range of what the vertical y scale. Just check in the Control Center Accounts tab what the avg position price is and see if this falls in the y range of the chart.

      Hi Ray,

      Thankyou for the speedy reply.

Yes the average entry price (was only 1 lot anyway) was comfortably within the Y scale, as were the Stop and Profit orders

After a bit more thought it seems that chart Trader is not processing the update that the order has been filled and/or closed.

      I say this now because I was also have problems with my ATM which i had thought was my issue. However what happens is this;

      The initial order placed is accepted - order lines drawn for the bracket but not the order itself. Then after that order is closed and a new one is placed an error is generated which shows in the log as;

"You cant submit an exit order to a strategy until any of its entry orders has been filled"

Although this same ATM works fine in SIM mode, it fails when live.

      Thanks

        Tomorrow please do this -

        - Submit an ATM strategy using Chart Trader
        - If it does not work as you expect please post a screen shot of the Control Center Accounts Tab and the Chart Trader together so I can see exactly what you are seeing

          Hi Ray,

I have cleared up the error condition mentioned in the lower part of my previous post - the order type in use wasnt accepted by the exchange, so it worked in Sim mode but not live.

However, when trading live, I still dont see entry orders or avg position on either the Dom or Chart trader. That is to say the standard BurlyWood color highlight (DOM) or line and associated marker (charttrader) does not appear, nor does the Pnl update.

Profit and stop targets are visible on both and can moved as needed.

The order(s) placed do appear in the relevant Control Center tabs and clear when the position is closed.

As mentioned earlier everything works correctly and is visible in Sim mode.

For live trading I am connected to a PATS feed. NT version is now 6.5.09.

I can send images next week - however they will reflect exactly the above situation.

          Any ideas or suggestions?

          Thanks

I would like to see an image of an open position in the Control Center Positions tab and the chart trader. Thanks.

              Ray,

Dierk has replied to the email I sent with images attached. Basically he was saying that the instrument I was using for Chart Trader was different to the instrument that was processing orders.

This is confusing because the Code that shows on CT is the name entered into the Master Instrument field. Then within mapping I have it mapped to both e-Signal and PATS. Orders entered from CT (or DOM) using the code setup and named as the Master Instrument are processed by the broker.

However, on the Control center Positions tab the instrument displays as the PATS mapped code. I would expect this to be correct.

The problem seems to be that CT acts on the mapping when placing an order but does back translate to update order status on the chart once the order is placed

When I look at how a standard instrument such as YM is setup it appears to be exactly the same - a Master name, then a variety of codes within mapping to reflect different vendor coding structures. I imagine this would work fine without any modification - so how it that different to what I am using?

A further problem within the Instrument manager is that when i attempt to setup a standalone code to test Dierks solution, at the moment data does not flow into NT. All settings are exactly the same as for the intrument that does work. I have had this occur before and it seems to be similar to the issue reported in

              ninjatrader-support.com/vb/showthread.php?t=5699

Either I am doing some wrong here or there is a problem within NT.

It would be great to get this sorted out.

              Thanks
