You might want to make sure that MBT is in fact working on the problem.

I just recieved this email from Phil at mbtrading in response to my email to him this Monday afternoon 2/04/08.

    >We are researching it now, but we haven't yet determined it's "an MB >issue"(we don't know yet); no other clients are reporting it.

    >Phil

In response I directed him to this thread.

I don't see how it could be an MBT issue. My version of MBT hasn't changed, and the .7 beta worked fine, .8 crashes NinjaTrader. Something changed between betas, it wouldn't seem to be that difficult to find the problem.

Regardless of who's problem it is, I've been unable to connect to MBT for over a week and my strategies don't run under 6.0 and there is no way to downgrade to .7 so I'm just stuck waiting. Not overly impressed with the support on this issue.

I'm sorry about the inconvenience cause of this issue. We are well aware about the implications. However, we have been working several hours a day with MBT to resolve this issue. As it stands, MBT is not able to reproduce on any of their Vista machines, but we can on several of ours. MBT development is looking into isolating the problem.

Yes it is frustrating but this is part of what it means to be involved in a beta test, nothing is guaranteed and I am okay with that. It makes me wonder what kind of support paying customers get but I’m sure that is not an issue to worry about.

I am hoping that in this instance there could be some reconsideration of making 6.5.07 available again, perhaps just posting a simple link to an FTP site? Why not?

It could be a temporary work around for those of us who are working on strategies that simply will not work with Ninja 6. In my case I have been using 6.5.08 and the Gain feed but the spread on some of the pairs is just so big it ruins my scalping strategies.
There must be copies of 6.5.07 around and it is frustrating knowing that our solution is just a quick “roll back” away and we are unable to do it.

As for me I will archive all versions going forward (except v8 !) in case something like this happens again and there continues to be no roll back option.
Please consider it guys! Given that this issue has been going on for over a week now can you explain why this is not a good temporary fix?

We know you are working hard to permanently solve this problem but why can't someone take just a minute to post a link to version 7?

Just getting frustrated and going into Ninja withdrawal, I need my fix! ;-)

          Thanks guys

Thanks for your suggestion. From now on we even will archive the latest beta (as we do with the "live" NT6 already).

              Oh no!

Oh well I was hoping you had it.
We have all been there and done that buddy. ;-)

Good luck in your bug hunt, I know it can be a real... chore!

              Thanks

                Guys,

We're still struggling, since MBT is not able to reproduce this issue on their machines but we can and apparently you - our customers - can too.

MBT raised some ideas about potentially messed up MBT navigator installation. Although this did not explain the issue on our test machines we are curious if it would help you.

So ... would you mind trying this:
                - please make sure you are logged in as admin
                - uninstall any NT version (6.5, 6, 5 etc.). Note: your custom data will be preserved
                - manually delete folder <program files>/NinjaTrader<Version>/bin
                - uninstall MBT Navigator
                - manually delete folder <program files>/MBTrading
                - clear your browser cache
                - install MBT Navigator 11 from here: http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/n...vigator.11.exe
                - install latest NT6.5 custom build from here: www.ninjatrader-support.com/ninjatrader/nt6.5.custom/NinjaTrader.Install.msi

Please mail me your results to "dierk AT ninjatrader DOT com" for follow up.

                Thanks in advance

                  FYI,

Followed the above instructions and all my strategies are gone.

Sorry about that, but you likely have removed <my documents>/NinjaTrader6.5/bin and not <program file>/NinjaTrader6.5/bin as per below.

                        Guys,

I guess we are onto something here. Could you please:
                        - uninstall NT6.5 via control panel
                        - clear your browser cache

                          Guys,

The build below is just a preliminary fix of the issue. I'm looking for someone who would be willing to let MBT tech support do some research on his/her machine. 32bit Vista would be the requirement ...

Anyone willing to help us out here .. please mail me to "dierk AT ninjatrader DOT com".

                          Thanks in advance

Yes, well, I hate to point out some potential bad news...

It does work great with NO more crashes when connecting to MBT!

BUT, the workspace corruption issue has returned. I just had a workspace that loaded but did not appear and did not appear in list. Now there is a twin in the Workspace directory... deja vu, unfortunately!

                              Is it just me?

As of now there are no known workspace issues with 6.5.0.8 or later (=custom build below).

I suggest giving it a fresh start by deleting all workspaces files in <my docoments>/NinjaTrader6.5/workspaces.

Please let us know if issue persists after that fresh restart. Thanks
