    New - suggestions

New to NJ and new to futures. Have traded options on stock.

Know little about futures and nothing about commodities. What do you suggest I start with and should I fund with 5K?

    Hello jeb1000,

    Thank you for posting.

I suggest contacting your broker directly to verify the amount required for the instrument(s) you intend to trade, margins, etc. Unfortunately we cannot make recommendations on what instrument(s) are best to trade as this varies from user to user and their preferences.

Let me know if I may be of further assistance.

I have opened a NJ account and in the process of funding it. But you are telling me I must link a brokerage account like etrade or IBKA before I can trade?

If you have a funded NinjaTrader Brokerage account you can trade this account within NinjaTrader Desktop, web application, etc. and will not need to open another account with a 3rd party broker.

Chris - I am confused - if NJ is NOT A BROKER then what about this statement in its own pitches - "Gain exposure, manage risk and expand your trading portfolio to capitalize on the most liquid markets around the world supported by NinjaTrader’s futures trading brokerage.

NinjaTrader is a brokerage as well and once your account is funded you will be able to trade your live account within NinjaTrader however the NinjaTrader Desktop application does also support other brokers as well such as IB, Topstep, etc.

Got it - tks. Now, back to my original question - what should I start to paper trading with since I know nothing about commodities. As the Nasdaq moves more up and down than the Dow, would that be a good place to start?

Unfortunately we cannot make recommendations on what instrument(s) are best to trade as this would be considered trading advice which is prohibited.

I thought this was a community forum - where people could share ideas. How is sharing ideas or offering someone what you may think be considered trading advice?
