Make chart refresh rate faster than 250ms possible

NT7 had a fastest chart Refresh rate property of 0.1s.(100ms)
NT8 has this reduced to 250ms. This is not fast enough for my needs. Others have concurred.
Furthermore, the refresh rate is now fixed at 250ms, which is a waste of resources on slower charts where this rate is unnecessarily fast. A separate thread asks for it to be made user configurable and slower - although it should be noted that that request is in the context of not unnecessarily consuming resources, rather than a desire for slow refresh per se.

Please add my vote as well. On a side note is the refresh rate limited to only the chart or is it imposed anywhere else in NT8?

In its designers' wisdom, NT 8 is structured so that any change, eg. indicator configuration, cycles thru all indicators on the chart. Optimizing refresh rate runs into this speed bump. Good luck!

I have used charting platforms since the beginning of electronic trading, and I don't recall even the first generation designed in this way.

Then there is NT 's half-assed implementation of Tick Replay, but that's another story!

fxRichard, I've added your vote to SFT-1536. There is a refresh rate for all NinjaTrader windows. This matches NinjaTrader 7 behavior.

Hello Patrick,

When you say there is a refresh rate for each Window in NT8, could you confirm you mean Window (only) and not Tab?

If so, that thismeans that if you have 4 charts each in a Tab in a single Window, the refresh rate will be the same for all charts irrespective of chart speed e.g. 10 tick, 100 tick, 30 minute, 1 hour - if refresh rate is set to 250ms all charts in the Window refresh at 250ms irrespective of chart speed?

Could you please explain, or point me to information, regarding the relative merits of using multiple tabs in a single window vs multiple windows with single tabs?

Refresh rate is constant per window and regardless of interval.

The difference would be that NinjaScript is suspended in tabs that are not in view (unless it is a strategy, alert, or attached to an order). In theory, this means that multiple tabs in one window would experience better performance than the same configuration on multiple windows.
