Cannot display chart of Custom instrument

I have historical data for a instrument that is not supported by any data providers. My aim to research the charts (and not to trade).

    1) I created a new instrument named MYCUSTOM (Stock), set the exchange as NSE (National Stock Exchange of India or any other exchange).
    2) In Symbol Map, I set the value to MYCUSTOM for External, Playback and Simulator. (I left the rest empty).
    3) I imported the 1minute OHLC historical data successfully from 2018-01-01 to date. I can see the historical data under the Historical Data -> MYCUSTOM symbol.
    4) Now when I open a new chart and select MYCUSTOM instrument, I do not see any candles on the chart. (I do not have an connections active in the connections window).

So, what am I doing wrong ?
My objective is only to research this instrument using indicators on the chart.

    Hello firstlanetech ,

Thank you for posting on the NinjaTrader forums.

Thank you for providing the details about your issue. Based on the steps you've described, it seems you've followed the correct procedures to create the instrument and import the data. However, the issue may be related to how the data is being recognized by the chart.
    • Ensure that the Trading Hours assigned to MYCUSTOM allow for the data range you imported.
      • Go to Control Center > Tools > Instruments, find MYCUSTOM, click Edit, and verify the Trading Hours settings.

Please write into clientservices@ninjatrader[dot]com if you continue having issues loading your data.

    Thank you!

      Thanks NinjaTrader_LuisH

I found the problem. The data I imported for the custom instrument was from 01-Jan-2020 to 30-Jun-2023.

The default setting in the chart for Load data based on is Days, and it is set to 365. I changed to 3650 (10 years), and then the chart was displayed correctly.

It seems like NinjaTrader tried to load 365 days of data from the today, and since the data was not there for that period it did not display anything on the chart. When I increased to 10 years, it picked up the data and displayed the chart.
