On Connection Loss Handling?

So i had a typical friday night disconnection take place. No problem. My strategy is set to "keep running" and I automatically re-establsihed my connection but i cant figure out why? I thought i understood the handling logic but i guess i dont.

In the attached photo you can see i have:
Disconnect delay seconds="10" this means the problem or reason for the disconnetion has to last longer than 10 seconds for ninjatrader to start thinking about the disconnection procedure?
Number of restart attempts="4" this means ninjatrader will try to restablish a connection 4 times before the red light comes on and ive officially been disconnected?
Restart within x minutes= "5" this means every 5 minutes ninjatrader will try to reconnect?

Based on these numbers wouldn't that add up to 20 minutes and 10 seconds for max time i can try to re-connect? Because in the photo you can see it was longer than 30 minutes?

Which definition am i getting wrong where this formula isnt adding up?

The names of the settings are exactly as they sound. The delay seconds is how much delay before detecting a disconnect. The number of restart attempts would be the maximum number of attempts to reconnect. The restarts within x minutes would be the maximum number of times the strategy will attempt to restart within X minutes. Because there were not 5 restart attempts within 5 minutes the strategy just kept running until reconnected. The strategy will only be disabled if the connection physically disconnects to where you need to reconnect using the menu. The

You're gonna have to get the crayons out for me becuase this isnt adding up.

10 seconds. Thats how long the disconnect will have to last before ninjatrader follows the logic below.

4 attempts. Ninjatrader will try to re-connect 4 times in that 5 minute time frame?

So what this is saying is that i have 5 minutes before im disconnected and ninjatrader wont re-connect automatically and i'll have to do it by hand.

You are using Keep Running so that is not relevant, the strategy won't be disabled unless a full disconnect happens to where you have to manually reconnect. Those settings are for use when you use recalculate, if the connection fails to reconnect X times in Y minutes the strategy is disabled.

Okay i think thats the information i was missing and thats helpful. What dictates whether or not i have to re-connect by hand? Because i was assuming that logic was to get the connection back not for re-calculating the strategy?

Hello andrewtrades,

That depends on the type of connection event, if the connection cannot be resumed and the internet is lost that will cause a full disconnect. For other items like latency issues or timeouts that would not be a full disconnect and still has the possibility of reconnecting.

Those settings are specifically for strategies, there is no way to control the platforms internal connection logic.
