Auto close orders at end of session

    Auto close orders at end of session

    Hi, is there an option to automatically close all orders at the end of the session and thus avoid the initial/maintenaince margin?
    I thought GTD button would do that, but now I'm not sure.

    Hello Diezguinho ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

    To accomplish this, you can use the Auto Close Position feature on the NinjaTrader 8 platform.

    Please navigate to the "Tools" tab and select "Options".

    Go to the Trading category, and find the "Auto close position" section.

    Check the "Enable" box.

    There you can set specific instruments and a certain time for them to be Closed.

      I can't enable it, is this maybe because I have the free version?

        What version of NT8 are you currently on?

        You can verify what version you are on by going to the Help tab and clicking on "about"

            Thank you very much for your message.

            Yes, you are correct.

            Unfortunately, on the previous 8.0 version of NinjaTrader, if you are using a Free Live License key, features such as "Auto Close Position" become inaccessible.

            If you had a Live Lease or LifeTime key, that feature would be unlocked (for the previous version)


            However, please note that the most updated version of NT8 (8.1.2.1) has this feature, as well as ATM strategies, Chart Trader, and much more for free.

            If you wish to update to obtain this feature for free:

            To update to the latest version of NinjaTrader Desktop please follow the steps below.
            • Login into the NinjaTrader Account Dashboard
            • If necessary, please create a login ("account") by creating an Username and Password and verifying your email address.
            • Click "Download" in the bottom left-hand corner of the sidebar
            • Next select "Download" in the "Most Recent Release" Window in the main screen
            • Once the installation had downloaded, ensure any previous version of NinjaTrader is closed before running the installation package.
              • Note: You may need to locate this in your "Downloads" folder in a Windows File Explorer
            After the installation package is completed you will be able to log into to the latest version of NinjaTrader Desktop with the connection guide linked below:

                Hello Diezguinho

                Thank you for your inquiry.

                The updated platform does come with changes, such as being required to login with a user/password everytime you launch the platform. I have also personally seen some custom indicators that are not up to date that are no longer compatible with the newer version.

                This should not affect 3rd party indicator licenses, since updating the platform does not change your Machine ID that is associated with the vendors.

                Most of the "cons" I have seen, come from 3rd party Broker clients (like AMP or GFF) who have been using the Free version of the platform. When they update, they find they need to purchase "Multi-broker" to trade their live money accounts.

                If you are using a NinjaTrader Brokerage account, you would not face this type of issue, and also you can now connect to your account using your Online Dashboard credentials rather than NinjaTrader Continuum (which needs its own credentials).

                In any case, please note that if you update, you can always downgrade back to the previous verison 8.0.28.0 at any moment if you do no like the changes in the new version.
