New Account, 8.0 Version
I just want to confirm my understanding of this - if someone signs up for a brand new, funded account at NinjaTrader Brokerage, is there any way for them to run 8.0.28.0 or is that off the table and they must run 8.1? It appears at first glance that even if they were okay with just sim trading, they would not have the necessary data feed credentials. Please confirm.Tags: None

Hello QuantKey_Bruce ,
Thank you for using NinjaTrader.
If a user is signing up for the first time, users will be able to get connected on 8.1+ and start their trial. This is because credentials are tied to the client dashboard username.
I hope this helps!
Please let us know if there's anything else we can assist with.Luis H.NinjaTrader Customer Service

We have a situation where they need to remote into a VPS and auto-start it, and don't want to have to type in their credentials every time because even if we AutoIT this it is an inferior solution to 8.0. Normally, I would say, just use 8.0.28.0 but for a new account that is no longer an option, which is why I wanted to confirm my understanding before I give them the bad news.

QuantKey_Bruce,
My scenario is only applicable if they are looking to use their demo since these are not emailed out anymore. If they have a live account with tangible credentials, they can use 28.0 and you can use the automation that you described.
Thank you.Luis H.NinjaTrader Customer Service

If a user wants to use CQG credentials to log into 8.0 instead they should reach out to NinjaTrader Support. We do not offer license keys any further, however. Account plans are available for users that would like to live trade but will require upgrading to 8.1. The only way a user would be able to live trade on 8.0 at this time is if they had a live license key previously.Luis H.NinjaTrader Customer Service

So, NinjaTrader_LuisH (indeed, all of NinjaTrader!) the answer to the original (vitally important) question posed by QuantKey_Bruce ...
... if someone signs up for a brand new, funded account at NinjaTrader Brokerage, is there any way for them to run 8.0.28.0 or is that off the table and they must run 8.1?
This is the same intransigent, disdainful disregard for real-world, practical user requirements that has been prevalent for so long, and manifestly obvious since the very badly-managed introduction of 8.1. It is a shameful approach to loyal customers and potential new customers who, if treated with the respect they deserve, would gladly go forward with 8.0, 8.1, 8.x, 9.0, ... into the future. But the blatant disregard for what customers really need ensures that far fewer will take that journey with NinjaTrader. Deeply saddening.
Thanks.

Good Lord at the word salad on the Ninjatrader response...
Just say it plain and clear.. PLEASE...
Ninjatrader no longer sells license keys... If you are BRAND NEW your option is ONE and ONLY one path.. 8.1...
Stop the "contact support" BS.... Just tell it like it is in the forum... And if you don't know the answer then don't offer one...

Okay. To state it clearly and succinctly, for a brand new account, there is ZERO option to run 8.0.28.0 (other than, I suppose, with a @SIM key but then no live trading) because NT will not issue any new license keys. If, however, they have a live license key already, NT is able to go in and find/provide the CQG username and password associated with their new-style user account. But, if they already have a live license key, then of course, they would already have received these credentials because back when NT was issuing license keys, they would have needed the CQG credentials, so this is not really any help.
Where 8.0 capability matters most is for the case where they need to be able to start up without typing the password every time. That is the main thing holding back so many from using 8.1 and keeping them clinging to 8.0 unless/until a fix is provided. But for anyone new, that is not a solution, so it means they have to look for another platform or do some sort of "hack" (AutoIT etc.) to get around this newly introduced roadblock to starting up.
