Yes, don't hold your breath for the watch button to be removed. Lots have requested this but it is unlikely to happen. I think the comments above have more to do with users who, for their own reasons, really want to stay on an older NT and therefore want to rig the older one with the newer one's certificates, which would not be supported but might work on a "you're on your own" basis.

I was able to find this important page thanks to Google: Required Update for NinjaTrader Desktop Users | NinjaTrader
Not sure why the page is not mentioned more by the support. I think NinjaTrader_Ryan was trying to include the link but it's broken now.

Apparently NinjaTrader has already release a standalone upgrade that addresses the issue. And in the FAQ:

Will The Update Impact My Workspaces, Third-Party Add-Ons, Etc? "No, saved workspaces & add-ons will not be impacted."

After I took backup of everything and run the upgrade and everything was ok. They did add the stupid watch video button but it's working for me so far. No workspace or plugin error messages.

I have been using it for a few weeks on my live account... seems just fine..

    Hello all,

Below is a help article for updating to 8.0.28 for users interested/curious about doing so. To confirm, this will be required to use the new CQG certificate.

    pos button?

    What's that?

[EDIT: Never mind, you mean that 'Watch' button in upper right of Control Center.]

“Now I understand why sometimes I was using more data which is important when overseas.“
There’s a hate thread on here for that pos button to be disabled and/or removed at user discretion.
Ninja refuse to listen, so it’s doubtful asking for your vote to be added will make a shred of difference. However, keep floating that thread up the list would keep the issue visible to forum visitors.

Also, there’s a thread on blocking access in your firewall to the ip address the button is polling which might help with your data use when abroad.

If you’re noticing increase in data use, just an fyi (apologies if you’re familiar with all this) you *may* get chart lag (& may not be aware of it - user add-on Chartlagmeasurement will reveal)

I rarely had chart lag >1s on .26
Upgraded to .27 recently. Now I’m seeing 5, 10, 20+ seconds frequently. No other changes.
    Seething, to say the least.

    Best,

Now I understand why sometimes I was using more data which is important when overseas. Downgraded to 8.0.26.0 from 8.0.28.0 to test the attached certificate but it fails {Network connection to the Order Routing System is unavailable. (Logon failed)}on July 11, 2023 as the current certificate is valid until "Jul 10 20:42:37 2023 GMT".

No it’s no my internet connection

A new database... One that I see STILL throws errors that didn't occur in 26.1 which I am still running as well...

What Ninjatrader forced me to do is simply move to a new broker.. I am broker neutral so rather than be FORCED to upgrade I'll just find a new broker who doesn't use CQG..

Don’t mind you asking at all #bltdavid. You’re correct of course I didn’t *need* to upgrade I chose to - felt that enough dust had settled on 27 now that we’re on to .1 and indications it may be the last supported desktop version (available on dashboard etc). Whilst keeping copies of .26.0 folders for reversion path. Seems CQG connection licence will make it mandatory.
Like to be a late adopter but not never. Forum & input from likes of yourself guide me on timing.
I’m hopeful the lag was a one-off and/or un-related to Watch Live. But I’ve weaned myself off Ninja hopium and still campaigning for its removal/disablement. Dog with bone. :-)

If you don't mind my asking, why did you need to upgrade?

Just curious about the why's and what for's of your upgrade decision.

    Thanks.
