I'll start:

1. I like that you can now connect to the same NinjaTrader Continuum account on 2 simultaneous desktops. No longer need a 2nd login and double pay for market data to trade the same account using two instance of NinjaTrader Desktop running on different computers.

VPS are very popular for leaving automated strategies running, so run my trading bots on my vps with ninjamobiletrader, and on my home computer connected to the same NT brokerage account with NT desktop with all my 3rd party indicators for placing manual trades. This is a really nice feature that isn't possible in previous desktop versions without buying a 2nd login.

2. I like that multi broker license keys are no longer required. For example, using the free Apex license key, can connect to a Apex tradovate account and Continuum account on the same NT desktop.

Are there any new not well known features / functionality you like in the new NT Desktop?

Ummm, what? Are people that paid for the multi broker licenses getting a refund then?

Sorry let me clarify, I've only tested multi broker license key not required specifically when using a prop firm tradovate account and NT brokerage account. I'm not sure about other combos, like IBKR, TD, Rithmic, etc. For the NT login modal (you know that new one before NT Desktop opens), I use the Apex login provided instead of personal. So perhaps the Apex tradovate login is a multi broker account?

Also part of the old lifetime & multi broker key was the Order Flow + indicators. That is still a paid addon, and not included with the Apex Tradovate login. But even without those indicators, it's still very nice to be able to log into Apex and personal brokerage account in the same NT Desktop without buying the multibroker key just for this purpose.

I think the reason is because the new NinjaTrader connection appears to count as a "free" connection. And Apex tradovate goes through this new NinjaTrader connection, see attached screenshot.

I have to log in to Ninjatrader each time now..?? I just can't double click it's icon and go..??
I had to create a new User name and Password just to download the newest version.. And now I can't startup Ninjatrader because I've had to many attempts in the last hour...
Now I have to wait an hour to trade.. SUCKS..!!

Also everyone already knows about the new login system. You get 16 attempts to get the login wrong before being locked out for one hour. Did you think retrying the same wrong credential a 17th time would work?

Nice try, backtester831 ... it's hard to look at the bright side when the hurricane is still raging around (or threatening to).

Nevertheless, there are some very good things with the 8.1.1.x transformation that should be acknowledged/applauded:

• Tradovate finally comes to NinjaTrader
• NinjaTrader web-based Futures trading as a result
• NinjaTrader mobile applications for Futures trading
• Improved NinjaTrader Brokerage account management capabilities, albeit still with some "shakedown of bugs" to do
• Some added flexibility for NinjaTrader Continuum accounts
• Commitment to the 8.0.x.x application to be available for years to come
• Some progress towards more server-side capabilities
• A degree of faster response to acknowledge and address some issues found
• Willingness to re-evaluate some decisions and in some cases reverse them; re-adding FXCM as a supported Forex broker, for example

Perhaps something that is a side-effect of the tsunami (mixed metaphors with hurricane above) of valid criticism (and some more akin to venting of angst) is the patience of NT Support and other staff (thanks NinjaTrader_Ray) to read and respond politely, even when faced with "very strong feelings" on the part of many users. Support is not an easy job!

Are there many things still to address/confront? Yes, of course. But there is also still room to look at the bright side too.

In previous versions, Apex license key removed most connections, see attached picture. NT Brokerage isn't even an option in this list.

I think historic grievances are difficult to overcome if presented with similar issue on each new version.

However I agree that positives should be applauded.

Namely. as mentioned, that there's now web and mobile access and perhaps a better account access facility (although I've not yet upgraded) and server side orders and as also mentioned, the patience and speed of reply of the NT staff.

Any order status would show up on my Applewatch after I log in to my NT account on my iPhone. Very nice feature.

NinjaTrader has made some courageous and forward-looking decisions repeatedly over several decades. Short-term speed bumps are understandable. In the long run, they're moving in a good direction, and I can't say that so clearly about every competitor.
