shift + draw line for perfect straight lines and more you would expect in 2022

    Hey guys,

I can see that even so it was requested as far as 2017, it is still not possible to draw straight lines in NT8. Amazing how 2022 can see such a basic feature missing. But since I am forced to use NT8 by one firm, let me drop a bit more complains which is just bad, and I am astonished how something called a trading platform might be missing:
    1. Why in the world every hot key has to have ctrl/shift/alt with it? What's wrong with all possible keys on the keyboard? To clarify most of my mouse keys have single keys mapped, so none work with NT8. Awesome.
    2. Why in the world there is no toolbar for frequently used drawings, something quick and easy to click instead of opening large menu each time?
    3. Why there is no proper measure tool available? Some would like to quickly measure pips/ticks distance on the screen instead of calculating stuff manually?
    4. Why there is no option to attach and show labels for drawings??? Once I describe my chart, how am I supposed to recognize which object was referring to what?
    5. Why panel with 'Trading' is not attachable as a tab to Control centre but hidden away?
    6. Snapping to price/bar works in abysmal way. It is either stubborn or does not work at all.
    7. Why there is no shortcut for zoom in/out, something like Ctrl-mouse scroll like in 90% of others programs?

And the list goes on and on.

Have you ever run your software by actual traders using it for trading and providing feedback on user interface? Because it feels 2000, and even worse than the very bad MT4/5 which has many of the above sorted. It actually reminds me of cTrader, which is similarly bad.

    Hello ads900,

Thank you very much for your post.

In regards to all feature requests; These are assessed based on how often they are requested and how they could be implemented by our Development Team on a regular basis. If you would like to add your vote to any of these requests, please never hesitate to let us know. I've also added your vote to SFT-1369 in this regard.

Regarding #2, you may find a NinjaScript enabling this publicly available on our NinjaTrader Ecosystem website:Here is a basic guideline of how to import NinjaScript add-ons in NinjaTrader 8:

Note — To import NinjaScripts you will need the original .zip file.

    To Import:
    1. Download the NinjaScripts to your desktop, keep them in the compressed .zip file.
    2. From the Control Center window select the menu Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-on...
    3. Select the downloaded .zip file
    4. NinjaTrader will then confirm if the import has been successful.

Critical - Specifically for some NinjaScripts, it will prompt that you are running newer versions of @SMA, @EMA, etc. and ask if you want to replace, press 'No'

Once installed, you may add the indicator to a chart by:
    • Right-click your chart > Indicators... > Select the Indicator from the 'Available' list on the left > Add > OK

Here is a short video demonstration of the import process:Regarding #3; Are you experiencing issues with the ruler? I'd be happy to assist you if you could give us further information on what issues you've encountered.

For #4; I don't see an existing feature request in this regard and have submitted one to our Development Team. It should also be possible to create a custom script to enable this via NinjaScript directly. If you are interested in creating a script enabling this, please let me know.

Regarding #5 and #6, could you give me additional information on what you are referring to?

For #7; The hotkey to zoom in or out can be set in the Hot Keys menu; As NinjaTrader uses the CTRL-key to enable chart movement with the mouse, it would not be possible to also use this combination to zoom in/out.

I look forward to your reply!

Well, instead of discarding each feedback on "These are assessed based on how often they are requested" you should go to something like Trading View to see how proper UI for trading platform is working like, what features it offers etc. (TV has its own problems - true, but UI wise is probably one of the best). And go from there.

I just don't get why you don't care about it all. And I will tell you why you get only so few requests for various 'improvements' (more like necessities): Users will run away as quickly as they can to something usable.
