Tooltips for AddPlot() and AddLine() ?

How do I add a tooltip for a plot created with AddPlot() and a line created with AddLine()?

My friend Google shows that I asked the same question back in 2015 and there was no way to do so at that time. (ID # SFT-603 was filed, if that helps)

I hope that by now, 9 years later, there is a way to add such tooltips. Please tell me how to do it.

    Thanks.

    Hello ETFVoyageur,

    Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately, SFT-603 has not been implemented. We are still tracking interest in this feature.

As with all feature requests, interest is tracked before implementation is considered, so we cannot offer an ETA or promise of fulfillment.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

      Sorry to hear that.

I guess there is a workaround -- solicit the information with regular properties, which can have tooltips, and then add the plots / lines in State=Configure so they won't show in the GUI. Does that seem to you to be a reasonable solution?

        Hello ETFVoyageur,

I don't see anything wrong with going about it that way if it suits your needs.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

I do have one that has come up since I last posted. I thought I could just put a Stroke in the GUI and go from there. Well, now I have a Stroke showing in the GUI. The problem is that it is also not showing a tooltip! My other properties all have tooltips showing as expected -- the only one that doesn't is the Stroke. Can you see what I am doing wrong?

          Code:
          [NinjaScriptProperty]
          [Display(Name="Stroke property test", Order=1, GroupName=GeneralParameters, Description="See what a Stroke property looks like")]
          public Stroke MyStroke { get; set; } = new Stroke(Brushes.Red);

          Thanks.

            Hello ETFVoyageur,

            From the Help Guide:

"Note: Expandable properties will NOT display a tool tip (e.g., SimpleFont, Stroke, or any custom component which are a type of an ExpandableObjectConverter)"

Thanks. I had forgotten that. I suppose that remark would also apply to my request for tooltips for lines and plots.

Now I wonder why that limitation ... oh. well, that's the way it is. Sometimes you just can't win.

Thats very frustrating - I wonder why the NET framework has that limitation too.
Tooltips are so useful on charts.
