Volume based charts on IB data

If you have Tools>Options>Data tab>Store real-time data checked, you can chart the incoming data in Tick, Volume and Range bars.

If you record tick data in real time I'm assuming this data will be available to do this correct?

Thank you for your post.

You will need historical tick data in order to display volume bars. Tick data on NinjaTrader with an IB connection is not supported. You can see more detail on our supported data feed providers here:

Hi,

I can't get a volume based chart to load historical data on IB's datafeed, and the 'Reload historical data' option is greyed out. It's displaying the real time data and updating the chart correctly, but is missing all the previous bars.

Time based bars load correctly though. I wonder whether this problem could be due to the fact that IB's feed is aggregated? Not sure though since this shouldn't affect the volume.

Also, just a suggestion, but the fact that I can't search for words <= 2 characters often makes it very hard to find existing answers to my questions.
