No NYSE Indices from opentick
Thank you for the suggestion Ben. The opentick feed came back online shortly after my post.
Unfortunately, those of us who rely on opentick to provide NYSE index data now have a much larger problem.
Last Friday, July 25th, opentick posted a message on their web site indicating that due to a hardware migration historical data would be unavailable over the weekend. They also announced that after the migration was complete data on all NYSE indices ($TICK, $TRIN, advances, declines, etc.) would be unavailable INDEFINITELY.
This is a big problem for those of us who use opentick to supply index data that we don't get from our brokerage firms, and it's compounded by the fact that opentick gave no prior notice that our index data was about to disappear.
Can anyone suggest an alternate, economical data feed to provide the NYSE index data that is now missing from opentick?

I received a response from opentick support earlier today - they do plan to offer NYSE Index data, but are unable to estimate when.
I got the impression it wouldn't be anytime soon, as they said there are other more pressing issues that need their immediate attention.
Seems very strange that they would move the beta servers into production without this functionality.

reply from OpenTick Support
I use OT for ADD, UVOL and SP500
"as far as we know, NT does not allow arbitrary input of the ports necessary to connect to NYSE feeds "dot1.opentick.com:10011" (NT defaults to post 10010)
Since we spoke, we've actually changed the server to "b11.opentick.com:10011". You may wnatn to try using another platform that will allow you to connect with the right port.
Please note that this is a beta server and not recommended for serious trading. If all goes well it should be moved to production by next week."
the msg was recd 1 aug....
so...is OT passing buck to NT?....does NT work with the new OT server migration?....is it just the indices?.....

Not sure what you referring to. NT has nothing to do with OpenTick "server migration" nor is there any joint business. NT will continue supporting OT datafeed as we did in the past. However, right now there is no provision to participate in any OT beta program.

this is not a beta issue....OT is saying that NT does not allow connection to the new port that OT is using since the migration to NYSE based server....
does NT need to change port access??????

Hello All,
I'm Joshua from Opentick Staff. I just want to clear up some confusion.
The b11.opentick.com:10011 mentioned by our support representative is a temporary feed server address. It is a developmental feed server address that currently provides data for those NYSE indices. Our support team mentioned it because there are people who really need these NYSE indices and may not want to wait 1-2 weeks before they are available on our production feed servers (feed1, feed2, ...).
The b11.opentick.com:10011 feed address will only work for another day or so, after which time we will be moving it to our previously supported beta1, beta2, ... methodology, using the standard ports we use for real-time and delayed data connections (10010, and 10015 respectively). Summary - once we move them to beta1, beta2 - it should work fine within NinjaTrader, since it supported our beta feed server addresses previously.
Of course, our production feeds still work within NinjaTrader, and nothing has changed as far as they are concerned. People should still be connecting to feed1.opentick.com, feed2.opentick.com port 10010 for real-time data connections.
Moving forward, we're going to continue making use of our beta1 and beta2 feed server addresses/ports for a variety of test feed server builds. For example to test these NYSE indices which we calculate ourselves, junk quote bugfixes, and other features related to the development and refinement our new feeds.
Sorry for the confusion! If anyone has any questions related to this, please feel free to write me here. Hopefully with my clarification, it will be clear though.
