2 data t/f on one chart

    Hi,

I want to have 2 data time-frames on one chart. I want to have 2000t, and 5min.

When I add both lots of data the 5m becomes the dominant chart and the 2000t chart candles overlap or gap to compensate for the time-frame of the 5m chart... Is there a way to make the 2000t the dominant chart, so the 5m chart candles gap and overlap?

I have tried adding the 2000t data last and first, doesn´t matter which way the 5m is the dominant chart.

Have attached a screenshot. Basically I would like the 2000t to be the dominant orderly chart.

    Hello ScottieDog,

    Thank you for your note.

The equidistant bar spacing is disabled when you have multiple data series on a chart.

    This cannot be changed.

But why does the minute one take preference?

It is the determinate one. The bar end times, and hence position, can be calculated with exactitude beforehand.

And there is absolutely no way of making the 2000t become the dominant one? I dont care if the 5minute chart candles overlap, gap, or do whatever... its the 2000t that I want to see clean.

            Hi ScottieDog,

This is not possible to have the tick series set the equidistant intervals.

I would recommend two charts stacked on top of each other.

Would it be (theoretically) possible with a ninjascript code?

                Hi ScottieDog,

I am not aware of any unsupported methods that could make this possible.

It might possible to make a custom bar type that maybe has the bar time not be the actual bar time but instead a false bar time that is an even increment. Then you could add whatever ticks you wanted to any of the bars.

I don't know if it would be possible and we wouldn't be able to assist with that as it would be highly unsupported.

But you may want to check with a NinjaScript Consultant to see if thats something that can be done.

What I want to do is to have a 5minute indicator plotting on the 2000tick chart, without the tick chart having all the gaps/overlaps. Is there a solution for that?

The 5min candles can just be made invisible, i have no requirement to see them, just the indicator that plots from the 5m.

                  Any suggestions?

                    Hi ScottieDog,

Its possible to set a a dataseries to transparent so that it is hidden from the chart but used for the dataseries of an indicator, however, it still modifies the equidistant bar spacing and this likely isn't what you are looking for.

Is there some way the indicator can be on its own 5minute chart, yet it throws alerts or a message to the 2000t chart?

                        Hi ScottieDog,

You can add a data series to an indicator using the Add() call.
                        http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...s/nt7/add3.htm

Add the secondary data series of 5000 Tick to your indicator and then apply the indicator to a 5 minute chart, and be sure to process the alerts on BarsInProgress 1.

Been looking at this again this morning, I read the documentation but to be frank, I don´t understand it - I´ve no experience coding Ninjascript.

Could anyone help me with real world instructions on how to get this setup?

If it would be time consuming, could someone let me know, from the instructions it would seem there are not many steps to make this happen but I am none the wiser after reading the documentation

                              Hi ScottieDog,

What is the indicator you are attempting to get alerts from?

                              What should trigger the alert?

Attached is an example of an SMACrossOver running alerts on a secondary series you can specify Tick.
