    Hi,

Would anyone know answer to this.

Lets say I have a generic sell stop placed in using NT. The market "bid/ask" goes below sell stop order but is not "trading" or "printing" will my sell stop go off ( should just sell at market under the given scenario I would think?)

    Thnx

    Hi mcorbett,

The trigger on stops is when the last traded price reaches the stop price. Stops can be submitted as stop-market or stop-limit.

Stop-market submits a market order when trading hits the stop price, which should generally fill right away. Stop-limit submits a limit order when triggered, which would fill according to market dynamics.

      Hi- Thanks

      Scenario:

Have a stop market in gold at 1745.00. Market is at 1747.00 begins to go lower and "bid/ask" is now 1744.00 however last print is 1746.70, so stop wont go off?

Market prints 1744.00, NT wil immediate sell at market and fill where bid is at that moment ?

      Thanks gain

Sorry, I did not follow your scenario fully. Best recommendation I have to make sure you can follow how this will work is to use the SuperDom with a simulated data feed. Place a stop market order and then trend the market towards it. You can see the "trigger" is always the last traded price indicated by the yellow highlight.

The typical fill price seen on market orders is: Sell orders fill at the bid price, buy orders fill at the ask.

I did a hypothetical in SIM

A trade is what triggers the stops regardless if limit or market. So if market goes lower then the stop price but does not print a trade, stop wont get a fill. It will execute only when a actual trade goes off in market below the stop price as in this scenario.

Not sure if there is a work around for this, but it should be if market is "offered" below my stop price it should fire off a sell at market.... thanks

Unfortunately there is no way to change so that bid/ask would be the trigger of stop orders.
