Historical Data
I'm trying to import historical data from pitrading on ES minute data dating back to 1997. The file name is ESNT. I created the symbol ESNT as a futures contract in the instrument manager. But, every time I import the historical data ninja automatically creates a stock instrument ESNT instead of importing the data into the ESNT futures contract I created. Any help would be appreciated.Tags: None

Hello jrtrader
Thank you for your post.
If you are importing a futures instrument, you must include the expiry date in the file name. For example, you would want to use 'ESNT 09-10.txt' in order for NinjaTrader to correctly identify this as a futures instrument.
Please review our Help Guide article on Importing Historical Data for more information:

Let me know if you continue to experience issues.MatthewNinjaTrader Product Management

JR, can I ask who your source of historical data is?
I have been looking for historical tick data, came up with 2 sources
1) Tickdata.com (100 bucks per year per futures contract), all ticks
2) Automated Trader magazine ($16 bucks per month of the ES contract), all ticks
I have not investigated to see if they are easily portable to Ninja Trader
