    Newbie Questions?

I have recently downloaded NT and have been playing with NASDAQ EOD Data and back-testing some strategies. I have come up with a strategy or 2 that I want to run against a simulation account and then a live account. I was thinking of using maybe MB Trading or Tradestation.

The strategies I have are rather selective. That is, they place many limit orders per day and only a few each day get filled. Example: Out of all of the NASDAQ Composite stocks between 20 and 5 dollars in the back-tests for one of the strategies it places about 100+ limit orders a day and only about one or two get filled every day or so.

Can I run this type of strategy on this may stocks with a simulated and/or live account? If so what do I need to do to get from back-testing to simulated/live trading?

Does the broker I use matter or will I be able to do this with MB Trading, Tradestation or do I need to choose another broker?

I have been reading the “Account Connections” and “Automated Trading” sections of the help but I am still a little lost as to what to do next?

I am new to trading, but have been programming C# since version 1.0 (if that matters).

    Thanks,
    Erik

Hi ErikHR, welcome to the NinjaTrader support forums and thanks for posting your questions to get you started.

You would have to use MBT then for execution, as we don't support executing trades to TradeStation's proprietory execution network.

To get started coding strategies, you may want to take a look at those tutorials published in our helpguide - http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...verview39.html

If you strategies need to access different timeframes and instruments to arrive at the signals, you want to read this on how to work with MultiTime and MultiInstrument strategies in our NinjaScript language (based on C#) -

As a start you can also work with our 'Point and Click' Strategy wizard interface and later unlock the source code to finetune it further -

Thanks for the help. I already opened a Tradestation account; luckily I did not fund it yet. I will open an account with MB Trading.

I have been using the wizard and have review and downloaded all/or most of the sample scripts from the forum. The MultiTime and MultiInstrument strategies were some of the first I looked at.

Let me get my MB Trading account open and see what other question I have.

      Thanks,
      Erik
