    Accessing Strategies Screen causes NT to crash

    Hi,

    I complied and ran a new strategy on a chart that caused NinjaTrader to crash.

    Now I can load NT fine, but when I right click on a chart and select 'Strategies' NT will crash. This also happens when I open a strategy analyzer and select Backtest.

    I have removed the strategy from the Strategies folder and reinstalled NT using 'Repair' but the problem still occurs.

    The only change I made to the strategy was to add a large number of indicators to it using Add().

    Here is the log from NT:

    Hello,

    Thank you for your post.

    This means you are pulling too much data from IB at one time. Please remove instruments from any Market Analyzers you are using, reduce the number charts and SuperDOMs you have running, and reduce the number of tickers you have up in TWS. Then shut down NinjaTrader and TWS, wait 10 minutes for your data status to change with IB, and then retest.

    Also try a database repair: Tools --> Options --> Misc --> Repair DB.

      Turns out the problem was something along these lines in the code:

      for (index = 0; index < limit; index++) {
      limit++;
      }

      i.e. infinite loop. Weird that it stopped me from even accessing the strategies screen though.

        spinalwiz,

        If you have an infinite loop there is no telling when NinjaTrader will crash. Behavior of your system once inside an infinite loop is unpredictable.
