    Hello RK,

Can you please open up a chart with two weeks of historical data from the start.

I tested a 150 tick chart with 15 days of historical data for the ES 12-08 and NinjaTrader did not crash.

      Jason,

I have tried this in the past. 9 days is the max Ninja trader is able to open for me a 10k volume ES chart. Sometimes 10 or 11 days, but more than that Ninja crashes. I have 4gb of ram on my system, with windows vista and ninja.

A 3 min ES chart, I am able to open for more than 45 days though.

Also, I know tradestation/multicharts users who can load more than 40 days of tick/volume charts from the same datafeed and on windows vista with 4 gb ram. Why does ninja use more memory and system resources for loading a volume chart?

I really like ninjatrader features when compared to others, and it would be really nice if ninja platform is crash proof and can handle tick/volume charts better and be as stable (crash resistant) as Multicharts.

        Hello RK,

I tested a 10K volume ES 12-08 chart with 15 days back and NinjaTrader did not crash on my end.

I suggest to close all windows in NinjaTrader except the Control Center. Make sure there are no workspaces running in the background. Please go to File-->Workspaces and check for workspaces in between "Save Workspace As" and "Default". Close each workspace one by one by selecting it and go to File-->Workspaces-->Close Workspace.

Connect to your data feed provider and open up the chart.

Another ninja platform crash experience on reload

          Hi Jason/Support,

I experienced another ninja platform crash today morning. I had missing data from overnight (may be due to zenfire connection disruption probably). So, I did a reload of data from Tools -->HistoricalData-->Reload for ES 12-08
and I selected tick and minute data reload from yesterday 10/16/08 to 10/17/08. From the log analysis, is it trying to pull more data than user requested ?

It was reloading for sometime and then ninja just crashed. This is another type of crash I experience, when I reload historical data. I usually do "repairdb" after the crash.

Attached below is the trace file part of it. From the log analysis, is it trying to pull more data than user requested ?

            Hello RK,

Does the crash recurs if you reload the data in the chart itself. Open up an ES chart and right click in the chart and select "Reload Historical Data".

The trace file lists three attemps to retrieve data with several seconds in between. Could it be you reloaded data from 10/08 to 10/17 first. 40 seconds later you reloaded data for just today and 25 seconds later again?

              Hi Jason/Support,

After I found missing overnight data, I did a reload first of 10/17/08 to 10/17/08 only and it happened fine. The I realised, there was still missing data like just before midnight. SO, I did a reload from 10/16/08 to 10/17/08 and that was when it crashed. I tried both using tools-->historicaldata-->reload.
I didn't try the reload from the chart. I tried the usual one from tools.

                Hello RK,

If you open up a new chart for the ES 12-08 does it display all data after repairing the database?

If not, please use the reload data function from the chart and check if all data will be loaded.

                  Hi Jason,

After the crash, I restarted ninja, did repairdb and then reloaded data and it is showing data fine now.

Thanks for your support. I would appreciate if you can debug the core problem of ninja crash on reload of data or on change of format data series. Couldn't trade this am session due to ninja crash.

                  Thanks
                  RK

At this time you are running into memory limitations. There is nothing we can do with NT 6.5 since you just hit limitations. What we have done in our upcoming NT7 is significantly reduced memory requirments which likely would address your issue although not now.
