    MBTrading nightly disconnects

    I know you guys have been asked this 1000 times, so i apologize in advance. Due to the 3 character search limitation, its very hard to search for previous "MB" related posts.


    In any case, I was expecting/hoping that with NT7 my MB Trading connection would automatically reconnect each night, with the obvious goal of letting a live strategy run uninterrupted and not having to reboot ninja each morning.

    So far, I'm still losing the connection each night and still being forced to restart NT. Is there any configuration I can change to potentially fix this? I believe MB Trading servers are down for about 30 minutes each night, so that is what i'm trying to work around.

    There is no option you can set for this per se because NT does require a restart. You can try using a Windows scheduled task? NT does have auto connect on startup functionality now.

      Ok thanks -- i thought you were putting some auto-reconnect feature in NT7?

      In any case, I'll see if i can somehow schedule a full restart of NT. However, i suppose i'll still have to manually restart live strategies once it actually restarts. So, it will still require daily manual intervention.

        MBTradings Navigator automatically reconnects. You should see a small grey box every 30 seconds or so to indicate this reconnection.

          Folks


          There is something wrong with MB Trading connection handling in NT 7. I don't know if it is limited to MB Trading, but thats what I use and there is at minimum a definite problem.


          The problem I am experiencing is random disconnections of my MB Trading connection several times per day. I am running strategies and the disconnects take one of two forms:

          1) I get a message from my strategy saying it lost price and order connection. The connection info on the bottom left of the control panel remains green (or maybe its a transient disconnection that reconnects quickly)


          2) Same as above, but the connection info turns red on the control panel. I'm assuming this means the connection is completely lost. It does not reestablish.


          The interesting thing is that, even in #2 above, the MB TRading window stays open and is completely usable. It seems like only the control center and strategies think there is a disconnect, but the MBT Nav window continues to function normally.

          Anyway, I've been using version 6 for a long time and never experienced this frequency of disconnects. I have been experiencing this with V7 since I started using it a week or two ago, but it took a while to see the pattern.

            When you get disconnected please see the Control Center logs for any reestablishing states. I am not sure if MBT has any logs itself for if it got disconnected, but you can try comparing against those if they exist as well.

              It seems like what is happening is that there are transient disconnects that usually reconnect fine.

              But several times per day, there is a disconnect, and then a little gray box pops in the middle of the screen, but it is "frozen"....MBT never reconnects and i have to kill NinjaTrader via the task manager.

              MBT Navigator works fine during this. You can see the MBT Nav window that ninja opens and all the prices are updating etc.

              Once i kill NT and restart its fine.

              Never had this problem with 6.5

                I have this occasional problem with both 6.5 and 7.0. I have yet to be able to figure out what is going on.

                You can check your MBTrading log files (C:\Program Files\MBTrading\MBT Navigator\Logs\MSGSmmdd.log) and look for the point where it loses connectionand freezes. It may shed some light on the issue you're having.

                  Thanks...i am going to do just that.


                  Ive been running automated strategies on 6.5 for quite a long time...i don't remember getting this frequency of lost connections. I was having problems before but it seems a lot more frequent now. To the point of multiple freezes per day -- can't run automated strategies in that type of situation.

                    Can anyone attest to being able to successfully execute automated trading with any broker without disconnects and crashes?


                    After fighting this for over a year I'm ready to switch to a different broker if anyone can confirm good connection reliability?

                      NT with MBT is not useable for strategys.

                      It's so difficult programming a stable automatic reconnect NT <=> MBT?

                      After rollover-times every night the MBT-Windows works fine, only NT won't reconnect automatically. There is a little black box "Connect to MBT...".

                      I don't want to restart 2 times a night NT.
                      Because of my Strategys and because record ticks´and because I sleep at this time.
